Hypersensitivity ‘Finding the Solution’ – Part 3

Finding the solution to hyper sensitivity

For many years I would experience debilitating digestive problems. I do not recall it as a daily experience but I would get a regular weekly attacks. During this period I felt so mis-understood. In retrospect when I reflect back how could I have expected anyone else to understand what it was like. They didn’t know what it was like to live inside my body or my mind. So I can’t blame them. For sure something wasn’t right and no-one could put their finger on it.

Was it all just physical symptoms or was it also triggered by the mind. At that time I just looked at it as being very physical.  Years went by and I just lived with the symptoms. It became a way of life. However in around 2000 I decided to to take some action and found a practitioner, who undertook a Vega test which revealed that I had 16 food intolerances which he couldn’t reverse. So I had to remove the following food types out of my diet – wheat, oats, barley, rye, pork, seafood, hazelnuts, citrus fruits, caffeine, gluten and lactose. There were 5 more more but at this moment in time I cannot recall them.

On one level this was a big positive step forward because I had found a practitioner that understood me and had a solution. However on another level I feel that matters got worse. You see as I removed the food types from my diet it brought relief but on another level I found myself becoming even more hypersensitive to these foods if I accidentally digested in them. I became very paranoid. I was like these walls appeared around me which were my protection. However whenever I was out of my comfort zone it felt like i got punched in my face or in this case my stomach. It was affecting me physically, psychologically and emotionally.

The paranoia drove Joanne (my wife) absolutely made. I was a nightmare to cook  and shop for. Every jar had to be checked and re-checked for its ingredients. She stuck by me although the whole experience was becoming most challenging for us as a couple and as a family as a whole. It was all very weird for the kids, they just wanted a normal dad….[to be continued]
