If raw food wasn’t enough the fun started when it came to foraging. Through the raw movement I met a forager, Effat an Iranian hunter gatherer who was a compendium on nature, foraging and food for free.

To say she was resourceful was an under statement.  She taught me about foraging in my local parkland, even in my back garden. I couldn’t believe what an abundance of food that we could find  in a matter of minutes and within such a small area. We started to take customers out foraging together. We made entire meals from what was growing in that particular season. Indigenous, wild and seasonal eating was logic, combined with raw food was quite an experience.

I was getting lighter and lighter and physically thinner, but fewer digestive symptoms, which was the upside. Jo was having to keep my feet on the ground. It was hard work, it created issues and what turned out to be a very testing time. I knew I needed to sort my digestive problems but one thing that stood out when I reflect back was that my problems weren’t just mine they became ours. Also it is became very apparent that going down a separate route in the case of my diet and everything that went with it is testing on relationships and family life. So here’s a thank-you to my unsung Jo for putting up with me!

On a very positive note once again my knowledge base was expanding, which in retrospect makes me a better, wiser, versed practitioner.

There is so much logic to raw food, foraging and wild food. However in balance is what it is all about something that I now understand more than ever.
